In a world obsessed with convenience and ease, it's easy to become addicted to comfort. We surround ourselves with things that make life simpler and more enjoyable, but what if this relentless pursuit of comfort is actually sabotaging our spiritual journey?
As I read your article I kept thinking about 2 Timothy 2:3, "Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus."
Then, a few verses later Paul wrote, "Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."
Paul suffered and endured.
I'm afraid we've all grown too soft, too addicted to our 21st-century comforts and conveniences.
In the future, when we're confronted with being cut off from the economic system if we don't accept the mark of the beast, will we be willing to forsake our earthly comfort to stay faithful to our heavenly Savior?
I posted about this same topic not long ago and I wholeheartedly agree- nothing about life and faith is or ever will be easy. We are called to a life of difficulties
This was a great read! I believe stepping outside our comfort zones helps grow our faith I think that the longer people stay in their comfort zones can cause them to not experience the fullness God has for them and also they can miss out on Gods miracles staying in their comfort zone
Wow! You laid this out so beautifully. Detailing why we seek comfort and how it can be there in different traits/traumas and how it is even good for us in small healthy Jesus centered ways. Absolutely brilliant!!
I am going to read it again because it speaks to something I’ve been spending time with. I am a minimalist married to a comfort seeker. More importantly to me though are the churches that are often caught in this very struggle. It is difficult when I see a church striving for more comfort, instead of pouring money out into the kingdom they build bigger buy nicer, softer, prettier things.
What a profound meditation this was! Thank you for sharing pastor! This piece reminded me of a situation that caused me great discomfort yesterday and my oh my how I failed at handling it with grace! 😂 "Embrace the discomfort" I'll remember that. Even better, I'll try to praise in the discomfort and not complain and murmur. 😂 Blessings!

The Bible tells us following Christ would not be easy. But it also tells us how He will care for us and provide comfort. This is a good article.

100% most people find the LORD in their most uncomfortable times in life.
