The gospel we hold is one that should leave us as only authentic men and women. It’s not that we have it all together that makes us Christian, but that we don’t. We need a savior. How vulnerable and authentic this should make us!
I agree with you. Vulnerability is a scary thing, especially when you tie who you are with what you do. We need to divorce ourselves from the idea that we need to have it "all together", and submit to discipleship and growth.
Man, it’s hard to reverse the urge. It’s seems like leadership should be people who have it together! That’s what we are taught!
And maybe they should, but probably in a different sense…I suppose having it all together is based on humility than pride. We have it all together in seeing how much we don’t have it all together? 😂
Then we lead as wounded soldiers compared to conquering super heroes. Maybe it’s a good way to put it?
I think you're on to something here. I would add that the closer you are to our Heavenly Father, the more you stop caring about what other people think and you just "do you." As someone who gets caught up in the being-everything-to-everyone more times than I'd like to admit, I admire those who are just their authentic self. For me, it takes crucifying the old-man daily.

Or maybe even as a captive leading other captives to their redemption!

I admire that, too.
That’s probably why older people are so cool sometimes. They just gave up on impressing people. I know some 80 year olds who are pretty authentic!
If you are In Christ, you are a leader. People feel it in you. Like a light to bugs, we are attracted by those In Christ alone.
